Positive Habits Part - 1

Well Well!

I don't consider myself successful yet, but then I have been reading a lot about the habits that most of the successful people have in common!

  • Waking up early - Almost every other article about success that I stumble upon, this trait is the most common among them! That is - Waking up early!
This is because when you wake up early, you have those extra hours in your hands which you can use for your productive work. A person spending 6 hours daily on Competitive Programming is likely to be a better Competitive Programmer than a person who spends just 1 hour or so.
Some of you might complain that when I try to wake up early, I will be sleepy for the most part and won't even get any concentration to do my work! How is it even beneficial for me? The matter of fact is you have trained your body for waking until late at night and sleeping till late in the morning like a PIG.
Just do an analysis of whether you actually are more productive after 12:00 at night and being awake till 4 in the morning? Or is there some change that you need to be adopting?
One another advantage of waking up in the morning is that you don't have your so-called FRIENDS online who would ping you every second for things that don't matter at all. As a result, you can concentrate more in the mornings!
Moreover, whenever you see the clock you yourself will realize that by this time I would be sleeping in my bed aaramse, but WOW, today I could accomplish so much more during this time.

  • Doing exercise and burning your calories - Thoda he sahi, but you gotta do some exercise. I have been exercising for reducing my initial stage of belly fat. However, there are other benefits that I am noticing as well.
When I exercise, I feel more active for the day and have a sense of pride that I am taking care of my body! Your health is the greatest asset that you have. Not taking it seriously is the biggest mistake that one can be doing!
Put some random exercise videos on your phone, tab, or laptop screen! Do those stretching, Inhale exhale, do that pranayam, do whatever it takes to keep your body fit.
A healthy body is a place for a healthy mind.
Rather than spending countless hours watching what happens when PEPSI and MENTOS are put together in large amounts kind of videos, spend time watching and also following these exercise videos.

  • Replenish Lost Motivations - Nothing stays permanent! So as your motivation that you got yesterday by seeing that wonderful motivational video by Sandeep Maheshwari.
You will realize that you go back to the same position as holding your phone and scrolling useless Instagram or Facebook posts for hours.
We actually need to replenish this lost motivation. Therefore try to set up a reminder with a YouTube link in the Microsoft TO-DO application that I had mentioned in one of the posts before, something like - "At 8:00 AM in the morning, remind me to watch this motivational video" (with a youtube video link if possible)
List down the set of things that you want to achieve but you have been postponing for long due to your so-called LAZINESS and jot them down in a paper and put them in front of you where it's visible to you all the time! Who knows seeing that paper might make you feel guilty for not working towards your dreams!

  • Think, Plan and Execute - Someone great said that - "If I was given 1 hour to solve a problem, I would spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and the rest 5 minutes for solving the problem!
Therefore to achieve something great, you have to plan the roadmap first. What is the LONG TERM Goal? Where you want to see yourself 5 years down the lane? What is the immediate step that you can be taking towards achieving that goal? Set up a plan for the same! Try to adhere to the plan (You might not be able to deliver your 100%, but that's totally okay). Try to be a better version of yourself than before.
Example - I want to get into SAP Labs in my campus placements in 4th year. I am in 2nd year now. What do I need to do?
    - Learn about SAP Labs what they do? What is their interview procedure? How a typical interview process happens for a product based company? What is your aggregate - do you need to focus more on academics so that you can at least sit for the company or you have enough aggregate that you can risk studying less for the academics and focusing totally on placements related subjects and honing your coding skill.
    - Jot down the resources and make a well-defined plan for as and when you be finishing every topic.
All these kind of things comes into the planning!
The plan may vary from person to person, so you gotta decide what best suits you!

Limiting this post with just 4 of the habits so that it doesn't get too long to be boring!
Till then I will postpone the rest for Positive Habits Part - 2!

C++ Setup using VS Code and TDM-GCC Compiler (Windows)

You need to use this blog along with the YouTube Video present here for better understanding of the installation and the overall process.  YouTube Link -  https://youtu.be/l-4SH-QzbgI C++ Setup using VS Code and TDM-GCC Compiler (Windows) Using this setup we will be installing VS Code and TDM-GCC Compiler which is a good way to compile and run C++ programs in Windows. During my school days we used to execute programs in Turbo C++ compiler, which is now discontinued for good. The UI wasn't intiuitive at all for Turbo C++ software and it looked something like the one shown in the image below. But we do have great memories of programming in C++ using Turbo C++ Software in our school days. 😃 Turbo C++ (discontinued) UI Coming back, as for the Linux based systems (Ubuntu, Debian etc, I guess GCC already comes as part of the package. So Linux users can compile their C++ Programs from day 1 of their installations. 👍 To install GCC compiler on Mac OSX, you need to download and insta...

How I tackled lack of motivation problem during my Placements?

Suffering from a lack of motivation? Well, that is something which is common to every human being out there at some point in time in their lives.  There are some facts that you need to grasp very well in your mind -  Everyone has got 24 hours.  Everyone faces a lack of motivation at some point in time.  No one can study for 24 hours straight.  Most of the people have the available resources to study around you. Example - Phone, Internet, Books, and Materials, etc.  Most people tend to waste their time in mobile games, series, movies, etc.  Not everyone gets up at 4 o clock and starts reading Data Structures and Algorithms and starts coding right away.  Not everyone is god gifted.  So, if this is the case with everyone, then where does the difference actually come up? How are some people more productive and achieve more as compared to others?  The difference comes up in the way how some have trained their mind to react to situations and t...

What if I am not from CSE or ISE? Does that affect my placement in any way, even if I am good?

The bitter truth about placements in UVCE is - for other branches like Mechanical, Electrical, etc. There are not a lot of core companies coming to the college for placements. Not every second or third company coming to college is a core company. Most of them are for Software Engineering profiles or profiles related to computer science fields. Even if the core companies come for placements, the number of students they usually pick is very less. Just confirm with the Placement Office at your college and ask about Placement Opportunities for the branch that you are currently in. So, my simple advice to all the juniors out there in other branches of engineering would be -  Start learning to code.  There will be more details provided to you, but for security reasons, I have hidden them here.  The list above shows the eligible branches for the respective companies . Most of them will be having a job role which involves computers, coding, and all computer...
